OUR NEW ROTARY INTERNATIONAL ROSE GARDEN

Completed 2006

Lots of Hard Work and Digging...!

As the result of links made during the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International, Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club in partnership with Annapolis Rotary Club have recently completed a commemorative rose garden at John Paul Jones Cottage

The garden is close to the commemorative trees planted previously by United States' Secretaries of the Navy, the Right Honourable William Mittendorf and the Right Honourable John Dalton during their visits to the Cottage. It adds considerably to the look of the grounds.

The garden was completed at Easter 2006 and was formally opened by the lovely Beth Mutch of Annapolis Rotary Club on 24th July 2006, seen here with Colin Williamson of Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club and kilted Alf Hannay, chairman of the Museum Trust. Alf expressed his gratitude to the two clubs for their generosity and hard work and added that that he hoped that this project would strengthen the links between the towns of Dumfries and Annapolis which were first twinned in the early 1990s.

The project has been jointly funded by both clubs.
