The project was to extend the Museum Visitor Centre by a new build onto the south west elevation utilising undeveloped land and part of the Museum car/coach parking area.
The enlarged Visitor Centre houses a much improved exhibition about the life and achievements of John Paul Jones with enhanced access for disabled visitors and groups including school parties.
We hope the improved interpretation and access will improve our visitor numbers, their experience and our revenue thereby safeguarding and enhancing the Cottage and assisting the sustainability of the museum operation.
The extension was opened by Lady Catherine Henderson, our Trustee, on 14th April 2003. Lady Henderson has worked tirelessly for the Trust for many years and has long been an advocate of an enlarged Visitor Centre.
